The holy prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Husayn (PBUH) gave everything he had to save the whole mankind. He revived Islam by his blood to save the humanity, therefore each year, Shia Muslim people across the world donate blood on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Husayn (PBUH) on the day of Ashura to save the lives of people.

Day of Ashura is a day in which Imam Husayn (the prophet Muhammad’s grandson) and all 72 of his companions including his family members were killed violently at the battle of Karbala and all their women and children were captured on this day. Thus, each year all the people from different religions participate in the mourning ceremonies and processions to commemorate the day of Ashura and memorize the goals of Imam Husayn.
